Employment Team successfully resolves pregnancy discrimination case

Lauren McLaughlin, Partner in our Employment Team, assisted and advised the Claimant in bringing a pregnancy and maternity discrimination claim under the Equality Act 2010. The claim was resolved early in Employment Tribunal proceedings. Achieving a fair six-figure deal, early settlement has allowed the Claimant to move on and focus on her family and future, without the need for lengthy litigation. With Final Hearings being listed for a year or more down the line in Employment Tribunal proceedings, litigation can be a time-consuming matter especially for those with new or young families to care for and who are thinking about their return to work and a job search. Settlement, if meaningful and adequate, can allow for the parties to bring protracted proceedings to a satisfactory end.
