Discussions through Solicitors

Whether arrangements are amicable between you and your spouse or not, it is often difficult to discuss the financial arrangements after divorce face to face. Therefore most people tend to instruct solicitors to try to resolve the financial issues consequent upon divorce.

This option will usually involve your solicitor collating your financial information and exchanging it with your spouse’s solicitor. Once this exchange has occurred and any queries have been resolved in respect of your spouse’s finances then negotiations can take place through solicitors’ correspondence.

If an early agreement can be reached then it will not be necessary to attend Court at any point during the process, although the agreement might be approved by the Court in order to ensure the agreement is binding.
