What is Cerebral Palsy?
Cerebral Palsy describes a condition that effects movement and motor function as a result of an injury to the brain.
Whilst in the majority of cases, the causes of Cerebral Palsy occur before birth, in around 1 in 10 cases Cerebral Palsy develops as a result of damage to the brain during birth. In these cases, where the cause is due to incompetent care, it may be possible to claim compensation.
Treatment for Cerebral Palsy Sufferers
Although there is no medical “cure” to repair damage to the brain, there are a significant amount of therapy, equipment and treatments available that can vastly improve quality of life for sufferers.
This treatment, combined with providing suitable accommodation, transport and other equipment, comes at a high expense.
If incompetent care during pregnancy or birth have caused the condition, compensation can be sought to cover these costs to improve the quality of life for the sufferer. These damages can also provide your child with financial security for life.
