Umar works as an associate solicitor exclusively in the Family Law Department. Umar has extensive experience in dealing with all aspects of relationship breakdown.
His current caseload spans a wide range of family issues including divorce, financial remedy and children law. He is a member of Resolution which is an organisation of lawyers which promotes good practice and the constructive resolution of family disputes.
Umar is proficient in helping clients deal with the financial issues that arise from separation, regularly advising on pre and post relationship acquired assets, business assets, investments and pensions. Notable financial settlement cases that Umar has been involved in include dealing with a range of overseas assets, ringfencing marital assets as well as dealing with military and NHS pensions.
Umar is also experienced in helping parents deal with all aspects of private Children Act proceedings. He often acts on behalf of clients who need assistance dealing with child arrangement disputes when matters have become extremely strained and contact is infrequent or being withheld. Umar has also had experience dealing with specific issues regarding holiday approval or moving schools. His recent caseload has included cases involving parental alienation, child abduction, and he has advocated in the Family Court.
Umar is well versed in advising clients through what can be the toughest period in their lives and has been commended for his understanding and friendly approach.
After graduating from university, Umar went on to pass the Legal Practice Course at City Law School with a Commendation. Following completion of his academic studies, Umar gained work experience in a London law firm assisting in their Dispute Resolution Department.
Before joining the firm Umar completed the Mongol Rally, a charity race overland from the UK to Mongolia, raising money for WaterAid. He enjoys travelling in his spare time and honing his culinary skills.
